Residence of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan without an ID-card or with an invalid ID-card, negligent storage of an ID-card resulting in its loss, residence of a foreign citizen and stateless person permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan with an invalid ID-card, negligent storage of an ID-card resulting in its loss shall entail a fine from 1/2 to 3 basic calculation units.

What is the procedure for obtaining citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan?

Admission to Uzbek citizenship is considered in accordance with the Citizenship Act of 10 March 2020.

A foreign citizen or stateless person who has resided permanently in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the last 5 years, through the internal affairs authorities at the place of permanent residence, submits an application for admission to citizenship addressed to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which contains recognition of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the obligation to fulfill its requirements, speaks the state language within the limits necessary for communication, indicates the renunciation of foreign citizenship.

The application shall be accompanied by:

application form;

a document certifying renunciation of foreign citizenship (except for stateless persons);

autobiography;

a document certifying the existence of legal sources of existence (certificate from the place of work or other substitute document indicating salary, pension, allowance, dividends and other sources of existence);

photographs;

a document on payment of the state duty or exemption from payment thereof.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan №UP-6065 from 22.09.2020 “On measures to introduce identification ID-cards in the Republic of Uzbekistan” the following documents are provided for registration of identification ID-card:

previously issued passport or ID-card;

birth certificate (in case of initial ID-card issuance);

a receipt for payment of the state duty (when paying via electronic payment systems, a receipt is not required)

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan № UP-6065 from 22.09.2020 “On measures to introduce ID-cards in the Republic of Uzbekistan” citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan to obtain and replace ID-cards can apply to any departments of migration and citizenship registration of internal affairs bodies and centers of state services, at their discretion.

In accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Decision No. 129 on measures to introduce a system for the design and issuance of identification cards in Uzbekistan, as from 1 January 2021, newborn children, Uzbek citizens, stateless persons permanently residing in Uzbekistan and foreign nationals are issued ID cards of the established standard.

- The ID card is a document certifying identity and citizenship and is used in the territory of Uzbekistan. ID-card is issued for a period of 10 years.

- The amount of state duty for registration and issuance of ID-card is 89% of the basic estimated amount.

- The biometric passport of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan of the 2011 model is considered invalid as of January 1, 2030.
